We first started this small organization when we moved to San Bernardino in 2017 from Los Angeles, CA. In Los Angeles we took several cats to get TNR'd for a cost of $0. When we moved to San Bernardino we called our local Humane Society, vets, the city, and local shelters to get information on where we could take feral cats for TNR and NO ONE does it for free. There is a large feral cat problem in SB and nowhere to get help for them. That's when we decided to step in and try to help these little guys by at least feeding and hydrating them. Once we started to feed our feral colonies we knew the only way to end this cycle of suffering was to start doing TNR ourselves, out of our own pockets. We want to bring awareness to the world about the suffering and the lack of resources that the city of San Bernardino has for animals in need.
We are currently expanding our foster base and have been able to triple our save rate year over year. We have converted our entire home to facilitate our rescues. Our two guest bedrooms have been converted into the healthy kitty club and the neonatal kitten nursery. The garage has been renovated, insulated, and finished with a bathroom and added plumbing, this space offers isolation housing and a TNR recovery space. We are currently renovating the front of the house to add a large outdoor catio that will be connected through a two way cat door to the healthy kitty club. We expect to triple our intake again this year.
We see Cats of San Bernardino expanding to where we can help not only the City of San Bernardino but the County. We plan to move our operations to a larger property to facilitate more rescues with larger areas for feral and community cats. With your continued support we can make this dream a reality!
